Whether you are due to entertain guests at home or not, you should know the art of making several dips! It could come in handy! You could have a huge pack of chips laying around one day and you could also be feeling spontaneous. So, what do you do? You make a dip to dip your chips into, silly! And, we all know how easy guacamole is to make. Easier than spelling the damn word, anyway.
Jokes aside, you may not be a Michelin star chef, but making dips is a party trick that you can easily get on board with.
Why don’t we introduce you to dips that transcend the usual ketchup, mustard or mayo? Spice up your and your guests’ palettes in the process! Read on and your friends and family will be nagging you for the recipes of the dips you serve to them whenever they come around!
1. ARTICHOKE DIP
Arti…what? Oxford dictionary defines artichoke as “a European plant resembling a thistle, cultivated for its large flower heads”. Well, there was some context for you! Probably one of the easiest appetizers to make, this dip is best to dip your crackers or bread into.
The recipe is so excruciatingly easy that we are surprised that we did not think of it!
First you combine sour cream, mayo, cream cheese, and parmesan cheese in a mixing bowl. Then you pour in your artichoke hearts and dried dill weed. After stirring to your heart’s content, place this mixture in a baking dish, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and bake! Et viola! You just made a dip and your family and friends will be thoroughly impressed to see you in the kitchen! If you would like to impress yourself and them some more, just chop some spinach and mix the pieces with the artichoke hearts before putting it all in the mayo mixture.
This dip is easy to make and decadent in taste!
2. MARGARITA PIZZA DIP
Imagine this dip’s name rolling off of your tongue effortlessly. The idea of this dip alone sounds awesome, doesn’t it? Take your imagination one step further and imagine dipping your hot margarita pizza into a margarita pizza dip! How cool would that be?
Like before, this dip’s recipe is also extremely easy!
First, you bake sliced tomatoes that have been drizzled with olive oil, salt, pepper and grated parmesan cheese. Bake the tomatoes until they are somewhat charred.
Then, in a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, garlic powder, basil, oregano and a pinch of salt and pepper until evenly combined. Spread this mixture on the baking dish and bake for 15 minutes. Or, do so until the cheese appears bubbly and golden. Remove from the oven and add the tomato mixture onto the creamy mixture. Proceed to bake this concoction for 10 more minutes.
Trips to the oven may be many but we can guarantee that this dip will be worth it. All your pizza-loving friends will be pleasantly surprised when you bake this dip for them on Movie night!
3. QUESO DIP
And, what is that, exactly? It’s nacho cheese dip, of course! Also known as fundido, this dip will have you thinking that you have gone to cheese heaven in seconds.
Everyone wants to go to a party that they can remember. For some, music could be the deciding aspect. And, for many others, it is the food. So, why not make your party stand out by having this creamy goodness in it? Just place chips, nachos and crackers alongside this dip and you will have the guests raving about it even after they’ve gone home.
For those who are more adventurous, for those who like the rush of risk, we recommend that you smear queso dip on tacos or even grilled chicken. Whatever floats your boat, right?
But, how do you make queso dip and how much time does it take? Firstly, it takes less time than you think and the recipe is super easy. You don’t even have to fret over which type of cheese to use because you can use any. American cheese, cheddar cheese or mozzarella cheese. We love’em all and are not biased!
Now, for the recipe, add a can of tomatoes and chili to a bowl full of the cheese YOU prefer. Mix thoroughly and then microwave with a wet towel over it for 2-3 minutes. That’s it! You’re done! If you want to make the queso spicier, chop some jalapenos in the mixture. Not a fan? Then, use either hot sauce, cayenne pepper or chili powder!
If you want to add a bit more texture to the dip, add some onions after sautéing them. Just do so until the onions turn a beautiful shade of golden-brown.
4. AVADCADO SALSA
And, you thought that salsa was only limited to tomatoes, didn’t you? Well, it’s the 21st century and we live in the land of innovation. Every day, chefs and food bloggers are trying to outdo themselves. And, this is why we thought that including this creative and easy-to-make avocado salsa would be a wise decision.
By now, you must know that the recipe is not going to be complex. You just have to read it once and then you can create magic in the kitchen all by yourself.
Now, for the recipe, chop tomatoes, red onions, jalapeños. avocados and cilantro. For the dressing, use salt, pepper, garlic powder, olive oil and lime juice. Toss it all together and there you have it! A chunky dip that gives you best of both worlds ( guacamole and salsa). While this dip is not a dip if we go by the textbook definition of the word, it can still be used in parties as guests can stuff it in a taco salad or a taco wrap.
This dip is the healthiest in our list and we think that as a stand-alone, it can be eaten without putting it on anything too!
